Design Manager

 DESIGN MANAGER

 

 

Porto Montenegro is looking for an experienced Architect or Engineer required to undertake Design Management duties on behalf of the client. Bilingual English / Serbian is essential. Experience as either Design Manager, Architect or Engineer on high end residential developments above €10 million in value preferred. Based in Tivat, occasional travel to Belgrade and London required.

 

 

Duties and key responsibilities

 

 Pre Award:

  • Developing the detailed Design Brief for the project
  • Recommending Design Delivery strategies for the project
  • Input into the Design Management section of the Project Execution Plan
  • Assisting the Procurement Team in the pre-qualification and bidding process for the design team
  • Assisting the Procurement Team in the formulation of design contracts, specifying detailed design deliverables, timescales and payment terms

 Post Award:

  • Assisting in the communication between the Design Team and the various Authorities to ensure a smooth permitting process
  • Overseeing the Document Control function and ensuring that documentation is promptly made available to all required parties
  • Organizing regular Design Team meetings, record and follow up actions
  • Checking the ongoing design against the design program and advising the Project Manager of any actual or potential future divergance
  • Checking the ongoing design for compliance with the Design Brief. Recommending remedial actions in case of divergence
  • Managing the RFI process. Be responsible for the timely responses of RFI’s
  • Managing the Submittals process. Be responsible for the timely issue of and responses to Submittals
  • At each design stage, reviewing the design deliverables for completeness
  • Leading Value Engineering initiatives, identifying possible ideas for further development by the Design and Cost teams
  • Managing the issue of all As Built documentation and handover to the Document Controller for Safe Keeping

 Qualifications

 

 University Degree in Architecture or Civil Engineering

 

Required Skills and Experience

  •  Excellent English / Serbian required
  •  Minimum 5 years of leading the design process on large construction projects in this region
